The wood on this pen is Spalted Katalox from Mexico, it is extremely rare wood and quite expensive, spalting is the result of natural decay and microbial bacteria eating away at the softer areas of the wood. Once the wood has been dried this action stops and what is left is a striking pattern and subtle color changes which are permanent, Katalox is a Very hard and dense wood, this pen has been finished to a glass like shine and uses a Parker style refill, and comes with your choice of black or blue ink. the pen is 5-1/2 inches long and slightly over 9/16 diameter a very comfortable size and well balanced pen.
